About Me

Literature gives people a reason to be more than normal. It gives them inspiration, a different perspective, maybe even another world to escape to. When they come up after drowning themselves in a good book, they are not the same as before. These people embarked on a journey and learned more about themselves, and the world we live in, in a short fragment of time and without even leaving their couch.

Since I was little, I have always loved to read and loose myself in literature. In school, I would always gravitate toward the workshop classes where I could review essays and my colleagues writing so I could help them make the best possible work they could. I quickly became the go to person to look over my friends work and review it to make sure it had correct grammar and a solid format. When I matured and started wondering what career to pursue in the future, I immediately turned to an editing position for a book publishing house. Of course movies and novels with fancy book editors in big cities played a part in making the career seem inviting, but that only helped peak my interest, not make me want it as much as I do now. I researched the role and duties of an editor and fell in love with the job description. I want to be the one to find the manuscript that I know will speak to the world and make them lend an ear to what the writer has to say, like so many amazing books do for me.

I want to edit the book that will change the life of a person going through a tough time and feels they have no one who understands. I want to edit the book that makes a person realize who they want to be and the things they want to accomplish. I will be that editor who sees the special elements of a story and knows that it will somehow, even if for a brief second, have effect on a person. To me, being a book editor is not just about reading literature and enjoying it myself, it is about being the one to find the treasure that the world will be a better place for by existing.

Passion alone does not make an person an editor, but passion with talent makes for a keen eye.
